Hope you don't mind a question from a tin tenter!
We used to tent camp but it got too much what with age and arthritis that was getting worse. So anyway last May we bit the bullet and bought a caravan.
I couldn't bring myself to sell the tents(Tulip and Big Blue....see what I mean!!) and camping gear but the OH is now moaning because the garage is full of both stuff. So when is the best time to sell, I've thought probably in a months time?? And is the dreaded fleabay the best??
Any thoughts?

I would have thought your timing would be right and will increase your chances of a higher price. what about trying to sell the tents on here first, gumtree is worth for a go for a couple weeks before ebay.
The thing is with ebay, if you are selling and you get a bidding war you can end up selling for more than you paid for it.
------------- It's better to ask a silly question than make a silly mistake.
Not sure when the tenting season starts but when it does that is a good time to sell, although, because many know that, the market can get flooded and drag prices down.
Folks do like to get something early to be sure of getting one and so will buy early when there aren't many about. That will raise prices.
I'm no expert, having never sold, and never purchased anything on an Ebay auction, however, I would guess hold fire until the whole country has been devoid of any rain showers for two full consecutive days, preferably a weekend, and preferably with yer actual sunshine.... then get it advertised as quick as poss..... they'll be gagging for it!!
Give Gumtree a go 1st as it doesn't cost anything. So you could even try now. Just put it up for the amount you want. If it doesn't sell now you havnt lost anything. You can try again in the spring which I assume is the best time if using ebay.
If you want a good price on ebay you need pictures of the actual tent erected, so you need wait until weather is good enough to erect in garden, if they ain't been erected for a couple of yrs you need to check they ain't gone mouldy anyway.
Although many people camp all year round I think Easter is considered to be the start of the camping season. It's at this time that most campsites that have been closed for the winter wake from hibernation.
So, any time now might be a good idea. I have always had a good result on ebay with camping gear and especially if you are able to post it. However, ebay is getting more and more expensive so advertising here to begin with might get results, or, as mentioned, Gumtree or Preloved. Even a card in your local shop window or freeads might work.
Photographs certainly help and it would certainly be wise to check it over for mould first.
Thanks folks there's some really good ideas there. We've already checked the tents over and they are both in pristine condition so as soon as this flaming rain stops I'll get them on somewhere o

Ebay is good if you do it right, time your listing to finish during the evening on a Sunday. All my auctions finish around 8pm on a Sunday, that's when most people are bored and surfing and can't resist that one extra bid. Good pictures are a must, get some recent ones of the tent in situ, it's a good way to check it over too. Also pop up a pic of the tent in use on a happy family trip, smiling kids around it all having a great time to subconsciously tempt the buyer into the happy lifestyle they could have.
As for the time of year, I'd say Easter is the start of the season for most, aim for late March early April

hmmmmm sounds like you worked on the Outwell brochures!
the brochures and adverts do make me either laugh or grimace because for example,
why is a woman laughing a a new hoover?
people standing laughing at the new boiler on the britsh gas adverts - really? - when was a broken and new replacement boiler ever a laughing matter?
outwell tents - never a moments frustration in those pics - only perfect tents, perfectly behaved families - all laughing at each other...
what pills are these advertising people on???

we sold our tent last year in january with enough snow on the ground that we had to dig the cars out, so you can never tell best time. I think it depends on the tent and price. WE had ours on here and preloved. GOod luck.
