The joy of camping when the critters and ankle biters are back at school!
So quiet and peaceful, it's wonderful!
Looking forward to a few days of relaxation with just the dog for company.
Anyone else camping?

Yes, it's those pesky birds tweeting away that ruins it though
I don't know why, being retired, but I am struggling to find the time to go camping at the moment. My garden is like the Forth Bridge...no sooner do I finish than it needs doing again!
The rain doesn't help but I will be away pretty shortly before the next lot of school holidays, that's for sure
Yep - we are off to chatsworth on Thursday morning, we are looking forward to it having had not such a good time over the bank holiday. Our problem is we have to go away bank holidays as my husband only gets 16 days plus b/h - so we tend to tag a day on to them and make it a 4 day break.
And the weather is going to be slightly better showers and not constant heavy rain!!!

That really sounds like bliss. Something we very rarely get to experience having two rug rats But....... this weekend we are camping at a small site just outside Keswick so we can go to the beer festival with friends. No kids in tow

The disadvantage of working in education means we'll not experience this for a long time, especially the way the pensionable age keeps getting put back
I'm always really pleased when I see we have different holiday dates to other parts of the country!!

I know the feeling, I love it when our school closes for Eid ( we have a large Islamic population) but looks like we haven't got those few days this sept/Oct
It was raining all night last night and this morning, and my tarp stood up to the elements.
I double pegged on nearly all the guys, and left nothing to chance, knowing bad weather was on its way.
Woke up with everything intact, with no pockets of water gathering on the tarp. JimCall and Mucker would have been proud!
No pics yet, later.

My "lighter" breakfast, an alternative to a fry up; two slices of French toasts (fried in butter, of course), more butter and Golden Syrup, and a small pile of crispy streaky bacon:
And I had a visitor overnight, found it in the folding bucket that I use as a fire bucket, sadly it did not live long:

P.S. Admin - no review will be submitted as I have already submitted site reviews for Birchwood in the past.

I put two guys in the centre loop, pulling it towards the tent, looped the guys around the spikes of the middle pole, to stop the tarp from gathering water and sagging due to the weight.
I did this after the tarp structure collapsed due to the weight of water gathering on it.
