Hi guys, gales, brother's, sisters & fellow bikers
Just wondering if its worth starting a thread or separate forum topic for those of us who love combining motorcycling & camping under canvas?
Using the search tools here looking for "Motorcycle" on all forums in the last 2 years I can only find 4 posts relating to this subject?
The aim of starting a separate forum/topic is to gather hints and tips on what tent you find is best for you and what recommendations you have for others starting out on their 1st camping trips on their motorcycles.
As we know it's all about size, or lack of it so the 1st thing I would be looking at is what tent you have, whether it's any good, would you recommend it or not.
Please feel free to chip in on what tent you've found to be the best for you and why, and maybe what bike you ride when camping under canvas.
Ride safe, keep dry, have fun and keep it shiny side up
Who knows how this will go, maybe in time we could have a UKCampsite.co.uk motorcycle camping weekend

You haven't added to that search total, as you don't have the word "motorcycle" in the title!!
Actually, not so short...
I'd love to see a camper/biker pic-fest, because I'm trying to talk my mate into getting a trailer for his (he's struggling to find camping gear to suit top boxes/panniers etc. But then there's two of them, and they insist on standing height in the tent, which means poles are too long for top box and/or weight is too much!)
He's adamant he'll never get a trailer, but If I could just tempt him...
For someone who has done a good many miles with the wife camping and have now more or less finished doing it as the wife can not travel on the bike due to her severe arthritis got hold of her now. I know there some on here who do camp on the bike and will help with some of the questions you are probably looking for. Regarding tents that are around my first that we wanted were the ones you pitch fly sheet first and if possible keep the two separate if its raining so the inner keeps dry.The other type is the ones like the Kyami sort that goes up fairly quick especially if you have put up in the dark(it does happen). Hated having to that. I think Vango do a special biker tent that you can put the bike in if you want too. Hope you get some pointers from some others and go for it they have been the best times of both our lives and still have the two bikes but use them on my own for the rides out at 77 yrs of age and not the oldest Happy camping and riding.
I've plumped
Well I've plumped for a Vango ARK 300+ that I made an offer of a £100 (inc P+P)on eBay yesterday. It was accepted and despatched the same day.
I suppose the only way to find the right tent is to try it out but it'd be better if you could try before you buy.
It's too late to try it out now as we're off to Wales camping on the bike for the weekend and the new tents hasn't arrived yet luckily a friend is taking our camping gear and is already packed in his car.
As soon as we get back I'll pitch it in the garden to test it out and rate it and post my thought on it.
Happy camping people
