I have probably described this really badly, but I've noticed that some people on site like to deploy a fixed pole with floaty things on the end to amuse their children and act as a handy tent location device. Where can one purchase said items please?
Life's A Breeze is another good source for poles, windsocks and flags.

I got my pole from Skyblue, but I've been picking up windsocks and spinners from a variety of places for years. Most seaside shops sell them, along with Union Flags, England Flags and Jolly Rogers!
My first was a very fine nylon fish, which is still in good condition after at least two decades' service atop the flagpole. I also have a nice multi-coloured spinning hot air balloon-shaped thingie which flies in my tent doorway.
I've asked a few times for a ukcampsite flag, they said they should be in stock again soon :-)
I've constructed a stand for my flagpole which you would park your caravan/car wheel on to keep it weighted and sturdy, I'll be using it next month :-)
