I'm a mid-long term stalker, but this is my first post.
I'm a long term camper, having done it all my life and gone down the DofE route too. My husband only started camping when we got engaged, but loves it, as long as he's comfortable.
Since then, we are now the proud (and exhausted) owners of a one year old working cocker spaniel, who is just fabulous. We upgraded our old 2 man vango tent for an Outwell Oregon 5 (which we love), and are gradually upgrading our/my DofE kit.
We saw the most beautiful set of 'camping' chairs and stools in this months edition of a home magazine, and I have since been trying to find them. It's the Garden Trading 'Glamping table and 4 stools/roll up furniture set'. The best link to see it is here:
I have emailed the manufacturer, but have not yet had a reply, and, although it's very, very expensive, the OH has his heart set on it; so my question is, has anyone seen/got one and does anyone know where I can find it?
I've got to tell you I'm a complete sucker for the fancy schmancy when it comes to camping, but there's no way I'd part with £300 for a table that measures two feet by three.
Each to their own, I say. But I would not spend that amount of money on that particular kit. I also like my comfort when camping but I don't like the look of the stools.
------------- You have to be cruel to be unkind.
Kinky is using using a feather; wierd is using a whole damn chicken!
What I'm really trying to find is maybe a second hand set or an alternative! I've seen a couple of alternatives with the wooden table tops, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask all you clever people if you'd seen an alternative.
Must admit, I'm about to spend the best part of £4k on a tent... A ridiculous thing to do, in many folks' eye's, including my own, six months ago!
But it'll give us the set up we want (or think we do!!) with the quality to last.
No doubt, with regards to "your" table & stools, the quality is there, but I personally wouldn't "go that far" for something that wouldn't prove practical, nor as comfortable, for us personally.
I guess it'll be weighty, for a start. And for us, it'd get crammed in, and dragged out of the car so often, it would soon lose it's lustre!!
I'm happy to stick with basic, plasticy, cheapish camping gear, that proves both practical and comfortable, at a price I wouldn't wince at as and when it needed replacing.
As I've hinted at above, it's certainly a case of "Each to his/her own", but £300 for a table and 2 hard stools, that will no doubt take as much battering as any other camping equipment/furniture, is a step too far for me... and for that reason, I'M OOT!!
