Doesn't sound like an ideal start, but you still sound upbeat. I'd just leave the kids in the park if I was you and enjoy the peace and quiet after all the drama.
Sometimes you just have to keep smiling and get on with it, especially when the kids are having a great time. I dislocated my knee yesterday (regular occurrence) so am quite happy to spend large amounts of time sitting in the play area with them, watching the sea in the distance!
I'm really annoyed to have become the dreaded person who drives to the loo though. The shame of it

Tentaddict7, where were you. We took full force of rain. Lovely site though, despite minor issues with kids on the playground until after 10pm and my boys being bullied.

NuCampers, you absolutely must go. It's a beautiful area. We're at Arisaig at the moment and planning next years trip up! Will post pics when we're home next week.

I had intended going to Sands , probably about the same time as you but wimped out of camping completely and ended up renting a lodge at Kylesku.
Not a totally wasted trip camping wise though , cos I had a look round Clachtoll, Achmelvich and a couple of possible wild camping spots while I was there . Was disappointed I didn't manage to Atlandu as its on my camping wish list . All stored for future reference

We are on the tent area, near the large facility block where the campers kitchen is.
There was a bit of rain, yes, but not enough for anyone to feel their tent was under threat, so I was baffled to hear you saying that you were surprised that your tent and awning had stood up to it!
Had you been there the week before, I could have understood it. We had quite strong winds here then, but all the tents as far as I could see stood up to it well.
Sorry that you did not have such a great time at Sands, we absolutely love it here and have extended our stay until Saturday (would have stayed even longer if it were not for school starting next week - boo!)
I do agree that it is a beautiful area, this is our second time here and won't be the last!

We were down in the sand dune by the kids play area. We were enclosed on three sides but the wind howled through the only open bit! Had to take our awning down as it was blowing everywhere.
Love the site and will be going back next year. Kids really loved it even considering everything that happened. Love the area and have been mulling over buying a property!

Enjoy Sunnyside Croft..we were there in June/July. We had to take our awning down for a couple of days due to high winds coming from the West.
The beach is amazing..

Another vote for Sunnyside. We stayed for six days last July and loved the area. We booked for seven nights but had to come home a day early due to high winds. We were the only tent left. Just caravans and motorhomes remained.
Look forward to seeing your snaps. Enjoy the rest of your trip. I see your off to Rothiemurchus next! Now that you and your kids will love!!
