We are planning to take the family tent down and then repitch it on the same day. Which was/is a great plan. However, last time we did this it was pouring with rain, we put the tent down and rain soaked through everything while in transit. When we repitched it was dry and we were able to dry the tent out before setting up. Is their a trick to keeping the inside of the tent dry when travelling?
Another option to buy another tent for the first few days????
First thing in morning tent will most likely be wet on inside surfaces with condensation & after a wet night interior condensation will be even worse so if you are taking tent down as soon as you get up then you cannot really avoid a wet interior.
One solution is to take down at your leisure previous afternoon when interior is dry & you hope not raining & have a couple of cheap small popups or small domes for last night on site.
We travel regularly to two sites on holiday. Let's you get the most out of an area.
That means you are vulnerable to the wet tent.
However we accept that we need to get the tent down dry.
It has only been soaked once and when we relocated it was still raining.
We had no alternative but to put it up wet. The inside dried off and we postponed putting the bedding out till later.
There are few viable alternatives.
Thank you all for help. I think it might have been bad planning or maybe a bit ambitious of me to think this do able. We have to leave at a reasonable time in the morning as we have a 4 hour drive to get to the next campsite. I am a little bothered about getting cheap tents for the first few nights,if they leak then our bedding is going to be soaking for the rest of our holiday.
ofcourse, the sun could shine and this won't be a problem!
We toured last year for just over 2 weeks staying 3 nights here and there. Took a smaller tent (vango zeal 500) and use bin bags if wet - to put tent in and cover luggage etc. Planning on doing same this year. We've not used our big tent for last 2 years as decided it's more fun moving about and taking less stuff is quite liberating!
