We have just got a Kyham aerotech 4XL drive away awning, basically a nice big tent with an extra bit to connect to our camper van, we got this as all the reviews we read said how good it was.

However we have an issue, whenever there is a small breeze the air beams bow down, this is partly due to them having kinks in them.

The pump supplied with the tent has a pressure gauge on it, and the instructions say to use 4 to 5 psi... However the valves are 1 way valves meaning you can't actually measure the pressure in the beam, only the pressure going in which must be higher than in the beam in order for air to go in. I pumped the beams so pumping slowly air was going in at about 5psi, and the beans feel pretty firm.

Has anyone with a Kyham airbeam tent got any tips or advice what to do?? As I'm a bit annoyed at having to duck down any time there's a breeze.

Also I'm disappointed that the doors don't seal to the ground sheet, as coming from Outwell tents that's a big step backwards and one that wasn't clear from the adverts etc

Cheers

Hi re kinked airbeams
If you deflate the beam then take the beam out of the sleeve
The innertube should be in another sleeve un zip this so you can see the innertube
Inspect the innertube for any kinks or twists and make sure the end of the innertube is not rolled up
Then pump the innertube up just enough for it to form it's shape
Then zip this back into its sleeve
Then re install this sleeve back into the sleeve that's attached to the awning
Then inflate to the recommended pressure
We've had kinked beams on a couple of our airbeams now and also helped one or two others with there beams
Hope this helps

Brill advice thanks, we let a bit of pressure out, but enough to keep its shape, undid the front beam and the inner sleeve was twisted a little as was the outer, the actual tube was fine, we lined the inner up so the zip was in the middle and then the same with the outer, pumped it up a little harder then before and it's spot on,

The rest we didn't bother to undo the inner sleeve, we just straighted it all up, and then straighten the outer and finally pumped up a bit harder and it's soooo much better, a little wobble in the wind now but no having to duck!

Thanks very much, greatly appreciated

Glad you got it sorted miniracer
As I've found these kinks can happen anytime
Think it's just a downside to having an inflatable
They seem to occur during the folding process when taking them down
