Anyone been to Oakdown caravan site? (just been voted aa campsite of the year)

Made a bit of a boo-boo, booked it and so looking forward to going, for 3 nights at the end of august - but just showing the kids where we are going and saw that the max size of units is: 6m x 4m, oooppppsss - ours (approx. with guy ropes) is: 8m x 5m, Vango Maritsa 700, as there are 6 of us. Have messaged them, but how much of a problem with this be? really don't want to be changing campsite now as would be hard pressed tofind somewhere as nice at this late notice in our price range - arrggghhh! any advice appreciated :)

well, you've been honest now, which is the best policy. Rather that than find you can't fit after a journey and expectations.

See what they say, then maybe start doing a bit of research (if necessary) for your ideal site.

There must be capacity out there, or change where you fancy going.

Fingers crossed they will reply it is unit size excluding guy ropes, if they have a decent fire space between pitches they may still allow it.

Max size of tent is usually base size , not guys and tent..

Just looked 5.1 x 7.4 for the Maritsa.

Might be worth a polite phone call. We have been to sites over the max tent size. I always ring and ask them stating that ours is a bit over and will it be a problem???

Only 1 said, 'sorry, no can do!' as they were nearly full and only had small pitches left. We still fit on with oversize tent, car and trailer so I think they just don't want the massive tents (though we have a Montan 6p and awning/cover).

They might be able to accommodate you with an end pitch where you can go over the line a bit, so don't panic too much yet. Don't hold your breath for a return email, I don't know why but campsites are always slow to return messages and you have to ring them direct.

Thanks every one :)

Its all good - had a email from them this morn - asking for payment, which confused the heck out of me haha, so I rang them and she confirmed she had found me a bigger pitch for £2 extra per night, so were still going! yay! thanks for the advice :)
