Hi guys just a quick question. We're due to go camping at Norden Farm Dorset tomorrow ( first time since ds was born 20months ago) we have an outwell Nevada m plus a front canopy. My question is the weather says 40mph winds, do we go or not? Any ideas!
Thanks x
The forecast says 40kph winds for part of the day you arrive, there is a big difference, that is only just under 25mph and would be classified a strong breeze.
If it were me, I would go without doubt, especially as the wind is forecast to drop and there is sunny weather forecast too, if we all only went camping in perfect conditions a lot of campsites would go out of business.
You have a decent tent which might be a bit harder work to pitch in a strong breeze but once you're done it will be fine.
On the trip we have just got back from, we had gusts of up to 55kph and our tent was fine, the choice is yours ultimately, but it is not as though you will be pitching in driving rain and a howling gale! You also have sunny weather to look forward to if the forecast is to be believed.
Then again, I am not easily put off camping, even carried on after dislocating my shoulder once I got out of hospital, just let DH and son do all the heavy stuff!
Hope you have a great time.

We are in Cornwall at the moment and it is very windy with some high speed gusts. Tomorrow will be worse.
Take your time pitching if it doesn't feel right to pitch wait a while. As recommended avoid pitching the porch if you have a little trouble pitching the tent.
Have a good time.

I have this tent. It has stood up to strong winds. Just take down the canopy, as said above.
Dead easy to put up solo. I slide all the poles in, the ring and pin the back and front poles first: makes the tent easier and lighter to pull up the back pole. I peg the corners, it stops the tent flying off, however I unpeg each corner to ring and pin. When I haul up the back I peg the guys at the back, and readjust the corners if needed, do the same at the front, then ring and pin the middle pole. Does make a difference.
Have a fab time
