Hi, we have to camp in the UK. We live up North and can't both get enough time off work to justify the travel time. We also have a son with health problems who would struggle with the journey.
We are on the last day of a week in Northumberland. We have had 50 hours of continuous rain followed by 2 days of warm sunshine. Temperatures have struggled above 15 degrees though. We go all over the uk but in late July/August rubbish weather seems fairly common. As hubby commented yesterday we use the electric heater more than the bbq!
I would go for it but do your homework and have a wet weather plan. Yes you can walk in the rain but putting wet boots and coats on for the third day in a row isn't fun and its good to have a day visiting some attractions, doing a boat trip or visiting places like Windermere or Ambleside where you can get out of the rain a bit..
Just go with the right mindset -sunshine is a bonus!
Ok so majority say still go but prepare for wet weather. So I think it'll still go. Just need to get some wellies. Shame you have to think about things like that in Summer! I'm into all the hiking and would love to do Scafel Pike when I'm there but sadly my wee lad isn't as much of a walker as me lol seems I'm the one with all the energy!
Yes hoping to visit all the big lakes. Especially the 1 they are filming currently on for the new Swallows & Amazon's film.
