There's probably not many who "run them down" as much as I do on here. It's nothing personal, I'm just not keen on them myself... and in all honesty, a lot of my jibes are at least intended to be tongue in cheek, even if they don't always come across that way. And yes, I do also treat our own garden lights at home with similar derision!
As for them being "so unpopular", I'd wager there are more folk on here who have, and enjoy, them, than those of us who "run them down", so maybe not as unpopular as you may think.
I'll be honest, I've never had a weekend ruined by them, and I don't even recall losing an hours sleep because of them, be they twinkling, flashing, or simply glaring, but I'll tell you this...
I'll keep on "running them down"... because I can!!
Ha ha try the lakes , on our site there had to be at least 10 or more tents with lights , looks good when you have to sit inside due to weather been bad 😎☀️
