just taken my conway out for its first outing and have found it has one very small leak in a corner .what is the best way to treat the canvas

For just that leak, a squirt of re-proofer. If you want to do the whole canvas buy it in a tin and either paint or spray with a garden sprayer.

I've used Fabsil and a squirty can of re-proofer from Decathlon, both worked perfectly.
