Just returned from an autumnal trip in our Kampa Croyde Classic Air and thought I would post a few comments on performance in the best of British weather.

First I'll get off my chest that DH has managed to rip a sleeping pod and burn a hole in the mud flap on the porch but I am in the process of forgiving him for this.

We had torrential rain for the first 24 hours. We are still experiencing minor pooling around the base of some of the airbeams. This was dabbed up with a towel and then no more came through during the following 3 days of drizzle.

For the next 24 hours we had strong gusts. Our sleeping pods were not draughty, the tent was quiet. The front beam looked a bit bulgey the next day and that was the end of the tent experiencing the brunt of the wind. It was at this point that we realised the value of having the valves on the inside of the tent! With the field around us resembling a pig pen by this point we were able to sort out the beam without slushing around in mud.

The carpet from Kampa has mysterious melted on the underneath, insulation side. Something to do with the very hot summer trip? I don't know. Anyway I remain unimpressed with the carpet and when we have completely destroyed it I will replace with something cheaper. I am however a carpet concept convert as it is really comfy.

We used a £10 heater from argos in the tent in the late evening and it was really lovely and cosy.

The polycotton performed really well, we had minimal condensation on the very humid days and it felt fresh and quiet inside. Dried out nice and quickly in the wind. Heavy and cosy at night. Loved it!

Miraculously we managed to pack up dry with the exception of the ground sheet and footprint which will be dealt with later.

Now to work out how best to repair a torn bit on the sleeping pod. It's around a toggle thingy and DH yanked the tent from the outside causing it to tear. Grrrrr. Any suggestions?

McNett tape. Also I have patched burn holes by cutting a circle bit from the tent bag and using McNett insjide and out to patch them.
