Hello!! After a few years not camping we decided to purchase a new tent with sig and carpet and go camping again. We bought a Vango Icarus 500 and are trying it out for the first time this weekend. In the shop the demo was laid on a lovely smooth floor. The field we are in hasn't and the carpet is wrinkly despite best efforts. Is this the reality of carpets or am I missing a trick here? Thanks.

Can only suggest the carpet fibres need a bit of stretch & roughing. Invite the campsite round for a mini Glasto Fest in your tent (wellies optional). After a once over with a cold wash carpet shampoo your shag will have Chris Packham green with envy.

Wouldn't worry, just wait till it developes in to carpet crawl. Will drive you nuts chasing around the tent after it. Faster than a ferret down Martin's waders.

Welcome back to the mad world of tenting Millstar.

I have always used picnic rugs which seem to stay put but purchased a Vango Universal tent carpet for my brand new Sunncamp tent, mainly because it seemed to fit the floor space and was quite cheap. I used it recently for the first time and I am more than a little disappointed in the quality. Although it is a nice soft material it does tend to slip and slide about and wrinkle up...and there is only me in the tent. It wouldn't stand a chance with kids running about! Unfortunately my old picnic rugs are too small but I will be looking around for new picnic rugs to fit...you can keep the Vango tent carpet...rubbish!
