Hi all, how do I search for a campsite that allows vans. The van isn't to sleep in or converted or anything. It's just our form of transport to be able to fit everything in.
Asking for a friend 👍
only method I can think of is to find some sites you'd like to visit and then give them a call. That would be the only definite way to know unless their website says anything. Some could be fussy and say yes to a van but no to one with company logos on etc
Mixed views some sites let you on some won't, as already mentioned I always called them first and sent them a picture.
Helps if it looks more like a camper van (side windows bit of bling) and not a bob the builder van.
Caravan and Motorhome club allow them but not all sites have camping pitches.
When you call ask for confirmation in writing that you can take the van. I travelled 5 hours with my 3 year old nephew to my friends wedding in the middle of Wales last October. I booked the site in advance and told them I had a van. Got there just as twilight was setting in only to be told they didn't accept vans. I was disgusted that they were going to turn a single woman with a young child away at that time of day. It was an area we didn't know and we didn't have enough money for a b&b even if we could find one. No other sites in the area either. If I hadn't checked I could perhaps see where they were coming from but I had deliberately checked when booking. Eventually after some arguing and tears from the 3 year old they let me stay as long as I was off site all day and was only staying 2 nights. Trouble was by that time it was pitch black so I had to pitch in the dark. Other campers on the site were lovely though and all pitched in to help me set up
