Returning to tenting after several years caravanning - don't ask- I'm getting bewildered by the choice on offer. There's just the two of us in our sixties but fairly fit so looking for a tent big enough to take a bit of gear and comfortable living space. Budget is up to about £500. Any recommendations very gratefully received.

Hello acbruce.

For starters, how about a Vango Langley 400 XL, we saw one at a Tent Exhibition last month, my wife is keen on it.

Or, at another exhibition:-

In the beginning there was darkness.
Then I bought a tent.

Do you have a preference between traditional poled tents or air tents?

We made the switch to air tents last year and love them.

If you want to go for air tents how about....

The Sunncamp Invadair 600? It is available for £499 at the following three online retailers

here

And here

And also here

This should give you the space you are looking for, especially if you have quite a bit of kit to accommodate.

Ideally a 4 person should do for 2 people but they do tend to be a bit meagre on the living space.

We bought a Vango Edoras 500XL for just the 2 of us. Initially we thought this might be a bit excessive but like you we have quite a bit of kit and because our main holiday tends to be 2 weeks we don't like slumming it and having seen the how small the Edoras 500 living space was, opted for the XL and were glad we did.

If you want a poled tent then there is going to be a huge choice and you'll get more for budget.
