Stupid question alert!!!

My friend and her sons are camping for the first time ever, with us for a week from this weekend. They have purchased pretty much a whole set up from ebay along with a Kampa Croyde.

They have a kitchen storage thing with meshed cupboards and want to put in the porch bit, can the food be put and left in there in the porch ok? or should the kitchen unit be kept inside? would it be prone to getting damp or stolen by wildlife in the porch?

I've always had a camper so never really thought about it before.

Thanks for your help as always fellow campers :)

Ours stays in the porch. As long as food is wrapped well I don't think you would have a problem. Zip lock bags are a marvellous!

We have a kitchen storage unit with mesh doors. It's useful but we tend to keep just the non-food items in it (pots and pans, etc.). Food we keep in sealed plastic boxes left in the porch. It does stop the food getting damp, and badgers will just rip through a mesh door if they can smell food.

I hope your friends enjoy their first camp.

We keep all food that doesn't go in the coolbox in two cupboards, cooking food in porch and crisps and snacking food in tent cupboard.

I will add watch for any veg that lurks in cupboards, sometimes the heat in the tent when closed up during the day if out can accelerate them becoming soft and mushy.

We do the same as Chorizo - the plastic boxes are fab.

On our first outing with our new kitchen pre plastic boxes, squirrels (we think or maybe it was badgers?) chewed through the mesh door. We've had no problems since using the plastic boxes
