I posted this in another section by mistake so I’ll have another go 😊
I’m fairly new to camping and at present I’m using a blue 904
It don’t last long and at £25 a refill there has got to be a better option
What are you guys and girls using?
A friend told me to swap to propane?
Did he mean the orange bottle?

Propane is indeed the orange bottle.
We use a 3.9kg propane bottle and it lasts us a full year, it's also a better option when it's cooler temperatures as it's more stable and performs really well.
Refills are between £15-18.
Hope this helps you a little.

Butane is Blue and Propane is Red and I think now may be Orange. However, you only really need to convert to Propane gas if you intend camping during the winter where the outside temperature is likely to plummet as Propane will operate at about minus 30 degrees whereas Butane will start to fail at around plus 3 degrees.

For UK camping I would switch to BP Gaslight 5kg cylinder, I think Mac Gas or Flow Gas run the brand now since BP pulled the plug.

You can often find a BP Gaslight cylinder at your local dump, which can save you around £40 on the initial deposit when you go for your first refill at Home Base etc.
