We bought an Outwell Montana 6P tent about 8 years ago and loved it, becoming complete Outwell converts, it was beautifully made. We have recently downsized our camping and purchased an Outwell Dynam 4. The construction, stitching and zips are up to Outwells usual exceptional standards but the quality control on other areas is very poor. The storm flap over one of the front openings only has one part of the Velcro on, there were no guys to hold up the front poles when the door is up as an awning and the fastenings to hold the front awning if you wish to roll it up are not long enough, the tent would be damaged if you tried to use them. We had tried the tent in the garden but it would have been a nuisance if we had gone away and not done so. We decided to keep it because our holiday was too imminent and I am capable of sewing on Velcro, lengthening loops with elastic bands(!) and as seasoned campers we always have spare guys. However we are no longer Outwell advocates and if you see my post on the Camping Equipment forums on this site, you will see that this is not a one off. Incidentally, I am not a serial complainer but enough is enough with Outwell

Agreed, speaking to Outwell stockists who also sell other brands, they have noticed an upturn in Outwell returns compared to other big brands.

Thank you, not just me being unlucky then. With our previous tent we bought Hi Gear stuff from. Go Outdoors and it was very good. On Go Outdoors reviews for our new tent someone had received a tent with the wrong inner compartment!

Personally I think Outwell are pricing themselves out of the market. Ive not been at all impressed with their offerings over the last few years, they are hugely overpriced and a lot poorer quality. When I think I bought my Nevada, it cost just under £200, the same tent now is at least £500. If I was going to buy another tent, Id be looking at Kampas, outdoor revolution etc. Outwell would no longer be top of my list.
