Take a look at this.

eBay item number:351654714193

Saves the back breaking, only if the tent is high enough.
We have em for the awning in the caravan for when grandkids come. They love em.

Hi

Do you not need a mattress in the top of these?

Personally, I would say so, yes.
One other thing to note is that the camp beds in that EBay ling have solid bars across each end. I'd guess that wouldn't matter for any shorties out there.
There are camp beds that don't have these cross members, so less restrictive?

We got ours from Go Outdoors, although 8 years ago now, and they're still going strong.
Demo pics with SIM on top...

-------------
2020: Just 6 nights, thus far :-(
2019: A personal best 50 nights
2018: Just the 30 nights
2017: 34 nights/8 camps
2016: 32 nights/8 camps
2015: 38 nights/11 camps
2014: 34 nights/10 camps
2013: 36 nights
From July 2012: 23 nights

optional!!
I am 6'1 and 17stone. no probs with or without a topper. Used two of these for two weeks the wife and I, in st.ves in an oztent. great beds.
Grandkids use now, in awning and love em. No scrabbling around on the floor to get dressed. sit on like a normal bed.

another vote for the decathlon air. It folds up to the size of a sleeping bag, weighs less than 4kg. they have a new one with an extra 10cm length

If we are talking about the decathlon inflatable bed base, You definitely need a sim on top. Without one you’d be sleeping on slats!

The new one is 10cm longer but still only has 8 slats. It has a 5 year warranty (as opposed to the 10 year warranty on the original).

If only they'd make it a little wider..
