Hello there, just wondering if anyone could point me in any direction for old Uncampable canvas tents - hoping to recycle for a craft project! Where do they go to die?
Old canvas tents keep going until someone packs them wet and leaves them to rot in peace. Until someone forgets to loosen the guy lines in the rain and rips out the seams. Until someone fails to reproof the tent, notices it's leaking and throws it out.
Scout Troops use canvas patrol tents for sleeping and then demote them to store tents when they get funding for the next generation of patrol tents. Once a store tent is retired there's not much left to save.
The cotton frame tents of the 1970's have mostly gone.
There should be some Vango Force Tens hidden away in lofts and garages, treasured by old campers and climbers.
The new generation of bell tents for glamping are treasured possessions, lay hands on them at your peril, their owners will put down their chilled white wine and chase you with vigour.
