I'm obviously in the minority! Doesn't matter which size tent I use I only cook outside if the weather is really nice! Much less time to set up & less gear to haul about.

I would never leave a tarp up unattended or overnight unless I can be certain of light wind and very light rain,
I better keep my fingers crossed then - I'm kipping under the tarp on Saturday as I can't be arsed taking a tent!
When I bought my last tent which was an ESVO Bedouin 340 which has an integral front canopy where I set up my kitchen, I also bought side panels and a vario awning that zipped to the tent, and the need to rig a tarp was made redundant.
I do miss tarp rigging in some strange ways, and jumped to the chance to put two up for an outdoor event at a friend's massive field last Saturday. Good job too as it was raining cats and dogs. One of them was at risk of collapse due to pooling of water, and I quickly added 2 more guys to create drainage dips and saved it.
