Hi all,
I have just purchased a double camp bed, after an airbed debacle on my last camping trip (luckily it was the last night) and have read that to make them comfier you should use a SIM.
I dont have a SIM but have a normal double airbed. Would this work if slightly underinflate it?
I know airbeds arent as robust as SIMs and cant find any info on using normal airbeds on top of campbeds, everywhere just seems to mentions SIMs. Maybe there is a reason for this
You could try using a Duvalay roll out mattress instead. However, they're not cheap but they do reckon that they are worth every penny for a good nights sleep.

IMHO, and I have not tried this myself, just a hunch, using an under-inflated airbed on top of a camp bed is still sleeping on a sheet plastic on top of air. In addition, it is unlikely to be comfortable, in that as soon as you roll to one side, the air inside will squish to the other side, etc. etc...
SIM is different - it offers thermal insulation as well as support, which are functionalities that are both lacking in an under-inflated airbed.

I have just purchased a tent, after a bedsheet and clothes horse debacle on my last camping trip (luckily it was the last night) and have read that to make them a more secure shelter I need to tether it with guylines and tent pegs.
I don't have guylines or tent pegs but do have dental floss and a couple of spare toothbrushes. Would these work if I tied the dental floss really really tight, and hammered the toothbrushes into the ground right down to the bristles?
I know toothbrushes aren't as robust as tent pegs and cant find any info on using toothbrushes and dental floss, everywhere just seems to mention guylines and tent pegs. Maybe there is a reason for this.

I did see that you are dedicated to sarcasm or some weird sense of pompous superiority, fair play. You could've just said no, saved yourself some time and avoided coming across as a complete douche but thats up to you i guess.

I was planning on a more serious, detailed and helpful post this morning, concentrating on concave canvas camp beds, convex shaped quality SIMs, (With an excellent recommendation thrown in), bed frame bars, and even throw in a couple of very useful photo's.
Not of a pretty made up bed, but actual photo's of SIMs laid atop campbeds, deliberately set up and taken to show just how well they sit, and just how well they negate the effects of the aforementioned bar.
All to back up your theory that yes, there is actually a reason why "everywhere just seems to mention SIMs".
I was also going to advise on how to use the forum search facility, as there are literally dozens and dozens of previous threads on this very subject, with many helpful and informative posts... even some by myself, believe it or not.
However, being a complete douche, I doubt my efforts... nor my sarcastic approach to humour... will be appreciated.
Sometimes, even the best placed winking emoji just can't cut it, in the cut throat world of internet forums set up specifically to help folk. Not even on the single most important aspect of camping... a good nights sleep.
