Hi,
I have a Eurohike Buckingham 8 Elite tent. The two rooms on either end come with a central divider, however this only hooks in at the four corners leaving gaps all around. This wouldn't be an issue, but the kids like to argue over pretty much anything they can!

So, for my sanity (and the kids lives), can anyone suggest a way that I can seal the gap. I'm only really worried about the vertical gap between the two doors, as the other three sides aren't that bad. I have seen the sticky backed Velcro, but I'm not sure if the sticky would hold? I've also considered the idea of sewing a zip on it but, again, I don't know if that would hold or just rip the material.

Any suggestions would be greatfully received.

Kill a child, stuff it in the gap - duel purpose, fills gap and warning to other offspring! - Ooopp's, sorry, am I thinking out load again!

Now for something more productive.

The self adhesive Velcro would probably come unglued due to the surprisingly high temperatures reached in a tent when the sun shines, and it would only be stuck to the rather flimsy mesh material which wouldn't give a good bond anyway and the albeit light load may be sufficient on it's own to pull it off.

Sewing a few strategic patches of Velcro with some reinforcing material on back side of mesh to spread the load may reduce the gap sufficiently.

Send the children to another kind of camp, BOOT CAMP ..... Ooh! Sorry, off on my whimsical thoughts again!

Killing a child was my first thought too, but folding the tent and fitting it back in the bag would be difficult, so I had to move on to other ideas .

This was my concern with the self adhesive Velcro too, that it wouldn't be able to hold up with the heat in summer. What I don't understand is why these aren't stitched to the wall, with two hold clips like they use on every other window, door and fly net.

I've been reading online that you need Polyester thread. Is there a specific grade or thickness that you'd need for inside a tent? And what sort of material is best for the reinforcing on the back side? Is there a specific way it should be used?

I'm not sure how large the gaps are, but would it be possible to clip a length of fabric, like a scarf, across each gap? They could be removed for packing up.

The thread would likely not matter purely on inside of tent, Polyester recommendation is for rot resistance and less inclined to wick moisture from wet side of fabric to dry side, as from outside to inside on external walls. Almost any standard sewing grade would be up to the task.

I'd have thought almost any close weave material would do for the reinforcing, but the kind of tent repair fabric patch that is often included with a tent (usually the same as tent fabric, or available from camping outlets) would be ideal and may even colour match the tent so look original. The object is to spread the load on individual Velcro attachment stitches so that they are not hanging/pulling on a single fibre of the rather flimsy bedroom mesh, that would risk tearing out too easily.

Still favour killing a child, a lot less work, if they can't adhere to the Victorian notion of being 'seen but not heard' and there are no chimneys or mines they can busy themselves in for 16 hours a day, what's the point of them!

Killing the kids gets my first vote as it's a permanent fix. Sending them to a boot camp is also an option (but I'd suggest moving house and county while they were away)
However, in this PC world, get a pup tent and let them argue out of earshot.
