Hi My Grandson has bought a Valley 2 tent
It looks in excellent condition except
The underside of the flysheet - the blackout coating? - is sticky and marks your hands and the tent when used. Is this a common problem? How have Forum members tackled this problem? TIA

Did you solve this problem? I'm having the same issue, and the only suggestion I've seen when googling is to remove the coating with detergent, which I don't want to do as then it won't be blackout any longer and that was the primary reason for choosing this model.

the underside of any nylon tent is what actually makes it waterproof, using any detergent would remove that ability.

i would say that in the case of the OP that the tent is well past its use by date and would need to be replaced with a new one

Thanks for your reply. In my case the tent was only on its 3rd outing and had been put away clean/dry each time. Age might be a factor - it had 2 years stuck in the cupboard due to pandemic, so around 5 years old now.

Why not try these ?
I`m thinking about getting one due to the increasing use of those tacky solar lights that a lot of people seem to think are compulsory on campsites nowadays.

Apologies for late reply
Hi
I’m not certain it’s age related
IMO it’s due to condensation on the underside of the fly &
It being ‘wet’ when packed away
