Hello, my son is going on a one-night camping trip with his school. His camping group has four 12-year- olds (including my son) and we were wondering if a Eurohike Rydal-500 tent would be suitable for this trip and the number of children in the group. Thanks.
£480 for a one nighter is a tad excessive surely? also the hydrostatic head of 2000 isnt very good you really need to be looking at least 3000 hh
take a look at this one, https://olproshop.com/the-abberley-xl-4-berth-tent/ and double check because there was a further 10% discount for being on this web site
If you already own the tent then yes use it, if you're about to buy it think again. It is intended as a family tent with a room for the parents and a room for the kids. The 2 separate rooms make it heavy at 14.5kg and expensive rrp £300 but you can get a new one on Ebay for £154. If you intend to keep it as a family tent afterwards go ahead and buy it.
The porch/living area of this tent is massive making the tent 16' long and 10' wide you're going to need a big campsite. I assume the poles are glass fibre (not aluminium) so with the tent 2m tall you may get issues in high winds.
By comparison the Vango Apollo 500 with a single room and smaller porch is only 8kg at an rrp of £100. With a group of 4 you could actually hike with this tent. being smaller and lower with a dome section this tent will be better in high winds.
This type of tent will pack smaller and be easier to transport and store.
This is a camping tent rather than a glamping tent.
