Hi all
im contemplating a new double sleeping bag as my wife suffers with the cold ,im not wanting to break the bank but if anyone gas any recommendations would be apricated.
weight doesnt matter as we always use the car, at the moment we just have to high gear mummy bags that zip together and need a duvet over the top.
many thanks juice
I treat sleeping bags in much the same way as hiking cloths, LAYERS are the way to go, to adjust insulation layers to suit environment. The only one layer of the highest insulation approach commits you to being too hot much of the time!
I use cheap/thin probably only 2 season sleeping bags, and use a lightweight blanket if more warmth is required, and that's very rare. I really don't need or want really high insulation bedding, so I may not be the best to advise, and the thought of sleeping bag AND duvet fills me with horror!!!!
TBH, I struggle with double bedding in any situation, I'm naturally a 'hot bod' who requires minimum insulation, whereas partners have been 'Ice Maidens' who require diabolical (IMHO!) amounts of insulation, and I go into thermonuclear meltdown to the point of feeling unwell if I'm forced to share that! Much prefer his 'n' hers bedding. Single sleeping bags of different grades could be zipped together to give more customised warmth.
We have a coverless duvet that is only just bigger than a sleeping bag and is very pleasant to sleep under. That, and a fleece blanket or faux fur throw might be a good option if one of you prefers it a bit toasty
