a Khyam Tourer 400.

Has anyone got any experience of these?  How long do they take to erect, etc???

I think the 'Tourer' series of tents are fairly similar to the Ridgidome 'Classic' series... The only real difference, in terms of pitching, is the 'Tourers' have fibre glass 'bedroom' poles, whereas the 'Classics' have all aluminium poles...

I have the 'XL Classic' which has one 'bedroom pod' compared to the 'Tourer 400's' two... They're simplicity itself to pitch, but don't get carried away with the thought that you can pitch the tent in minutes... The main dome goes up in a few minutes, but you still have to 'peg out' the base and guy ropes, as in all other tents!...

After a few 'practice runs' you'll probably do the job, in about 45 minutes to an hour... Depending on how long it takes to fit those 'fibre glass' poles...

If the 'Tourer 400' is anything like the quality of the 'XL Classic', you've got a good tent... Enjoy yourselves!...

Andy,

Thanks for that.  I must admit I bought it for the ease of pitching for weekend use.  We have a Diablo 900 for longer stays but it seems to me that when you have a bigger tent you take more "essentials" to fill it!!

I've got thetourer 600 which is almost the same as yours but with the extra bedroom at the back. After a couple of practice runs it takes around 30mins to put up. Had a bit of a problem with saggy corners in the bedrooms but that was solved by making sure the adjustable fabric straps at the bottom of the bedrooms were extended when pitching so that once the tent was up these could be pulled tighter to get rid of the slack - this may make more sense once you actually do it!

moysies,

I think I know what you mean as we have had a similar problem with the diablo.  Sorted after a few tries though!

hi dave  we;ve got the tourer 400 it takes me and hubby about 30/40 min to put tent up, it takes minutes for the main hub to errect, the fibre poles take seconds to thread though, never had any problems with the tent ,leaking or poles snaping , its ideal for two people, would,nt say it was a family tent though as the living space is small, bedrooms are a good size though, good luck with your new tent
