We have a large tent which we use for longer stays but also have a smaller one which, unfortunately, blew against our car door last time we used it. Has anybody SUCCESSFULLY managed to repair a tear - about 2 ft long - eg. with with tape? We don't think it would be worth sending if off to a specialist repairer and it would be used that much. We would only use this tent now for one nighters.
Have you tried your local camping shops and see what they suggest, or what about the maufacturers could they send you some material matching your tent to try and repair it. Its worth a try.
would``nt bother taping it unless you was using at the time when it happened, if you going to repair it its going to look awful, unless they replace the whole pannel, then again whats the cost of a new one against a repair bill, aint it covered by insurance?
Hi Triss ......... A friend done a corner tear, repair, ..... about 4 inches long (a canopy pole blew in the wind and ooppppsssss) ... he used tape to match the tent and sealant ....... it was a tent he had a while, to good to throw, but too old to have done proffessionally ........ works fine
We used the self ahdesive household friezes to repair small whole in our awning roof - 3 seasons ago still there and working fine ....... just a bit inside and out ...... and a tiny nick in a window has a kids smillie sticker on either side
Like I told JulieRR a couple of years ago, when the dog tore the tent - big time ........ make a feature of it ....... well she is very creative
A tear two feet long? You could mend that in a cotton canvas tent, but it`s a difficult repair in a synthetic tent. Usually you need to replace the whole panel for a big repair and that means sending it to a specialist.
You say it`s a small tent? How small? Anything under £50-60 and I`d just replace it. Remember to salvage poles, guys and a section of canvas for repairs to future tents though.
You can buy special adhesive from the camping shops to repair both canvas and synthetic. I used it on a large tear where the window met the awning, and it has been fine for over two years now.
Cosmeitically it leaves a bit to be desired, but I think that was more me than the poduct.
