Good on you all and go for it life is no dress rehearsal but just one thing is an issue here.....how will you get back to your car once at the other end?

If you want to walk the route of the wall between Wallsend and Newcastle don't follow Hadrians Wall Path along the north bank of the Tyne. The route of the Wall went inland from Wallsend through the centre of Newcastle. A good book to read is The Great Wall of Britain by Anton Hodge which describes his coast to coast Wall walk. Informative and funny. Ray
Click here for a site that has information on the history of the Wall and on the North East in general, may be of use to you.
We live in Wallsend and if you are walking the full length then obviously you have to come here but don't expect to see much of the wall. Apart from short stretchs to the west of Newcastle there are no surviving sections until you get to Wallsend itself where there are roman remains. Click here for the website for Segedunum museum.
I've just had a quick look at the link above on a previous post that takes you to the Hadrians Wall Path and as a previous poster has said that isn't the true course of the wall. The trail leads along the river as its more visually appealing to walking the true course which is in built up areas.
that was a very good question. how do you get back to your car after a walk. yu either get the bus, put a ccycle in position so one can get back to the start to pick up the car, get a friend to pick and drop you off, get a taxi, hitch a lift, do the walk as a circular and spend more time completing the walk, these are some of the ways that are open to you if you do not have support. its not easy.any other solutins would be greatly received.
hello stacey. What is your reason for walking hadrians wall? If you want to enjoy seeing sections of the "wall" then I suggest you have a few days walking the central section between Greenhead and Housesteads. There are absolutely loads of ways to walk and lots of information around, especially on the internet. RayE and I are up there regularly and love it. We can't get enough of the place and spent most of the last summer up and around the wall and still haven't seen everything. Enjoy!
