Okay I have never been to such exotic climates but was recommended Solarcaine for midges bites. I now carry a can with me everywhere. You get it from the pharmacist it is an aerosol. I recommend it to everyone who listens. It's also good for burns.

Haven't been to the rainforest or such exotic locations but been to tropical shores, I followed a 4 step system & only got bitten twice in 2 weeks, others were practically eaten alive as part of the hotel was over a lake! I used Boots Soltan sun lotion then aftersun, both with insect repellent after my shower morning & night, Jungle Formula Spray on my legs and Mozzie citronella patches (in velcro bands although I couldn't find these), one on my ankle & one on my wrist! I bet I smelled absolutely disgusting to a mosquito!

As for bite treatment, we took Jungle formula spray which was good too:

Hope this helps, have a fantastic time I am very envious!

It's woodland fresh body spray from Avon .Apparently it's fab for keeping those pesky mozzies at bay.Sounds like the foresters in Scotland use  it so the midges don't bite

It is not called Woodland Fresh anymore-  its called Skin so Soft- Soft and Fresh. You can get shower gel, body lotion, hand cream , bath foam etc  and dry oil spray.
