looking to take our 18mth son camping around the back end of april, as we have a Sunncamp APS 3006+, it's a 2 man task to put it put and our son is now all over the place he wont sit in the car while me and the wife pitch the tent, would like to know how other people cope with this problem.
Also does anyboby know if Sunnflair have stopped making the APS range as I cant see it on there web site anymore, would be a shame as it's a cracking tent.
I was going to suggest a travel cot but it would be rather good weather dependent i'm sure somebody will be along soon who's experienced similar problems.
Plenty of kids around on a campsite, speak to a parent and ask if there's one that'll babysit (play with) youngster in your view whilst you put up your tent for a few quid.
...easier to take the snake and leave the kids...I agree, other than that bribe with chocolate whilst strapped in watching you for a laugh/whilst you kill each other....
I've got exactly the same dilemma , I'm hoping for a 10 minute window where she'll sit in her push chair and scoffs raisins while my wife helps me do the " 2 man Bits "
I am in the same situation , but at the end of the day she will have to either sit in her car seat with the door open or the window open where she can see us or she will be sat in her pushchair, she will have no choice as I will be helping my OH to sort our tent out and unpack all our stuff. No doubt she will try moaning and groaning but that will be ignored.
If he's anything like my Grandson at that age, he will be asleep on arrival ....... so just a case of getting things out quickly and quietly ........ so no falling out till it's all done
Admittedly our caravan was sited with the awning up ....... but we used to have time, to lay the groundsheet & carpets, get the table, chairs, microwave and bits out of the van to make the awning a home lol, sort the shopping, put clothes away, etc etc. and on a really good day, get the kettle on
Failing that .... I'd go for the buggy, and give him the mallet, he's a boy, he'll love it just don't get to close to him ........ and don't forget to keep telling him when he is bigger he can help you do it all, he'll sit in there forever
If I was at the same site I'd watch the little uns..........my youngest is 9 now, other two are 18 and 21. I'm sure there'll be someone like me there. If not, just folow me around the country.......I'll watch 'em.

Lesley, I have three, various ages, Can i follow you?
Only thing i can suggest is, get a port. DVD and stick their fav. That will give you a little while and play the rest by ear, It is a lot eaiser when they are in the car leave the windows down, so you can talk. Also the DVD helps to keep them quite in the morn.

I agree they are great tents we have the sunncamp 3004 APS we don't use anymore since getting the confortmatic but have still hung onto it just in case; and you don't get much for second hand tents even though it only saw 1 season
travel cot doubles up as a play area and safe bed so they dont escape while you waking up. mine was 18 months on his first trip and we toilet trained him while camping .easier up van wheel than up and down the stairs. would not sit on the potty at all
