Please give me any opinions of the frame tents manufactured by Royal, i.e. quality, stability etc. (in particular, if you have one, the Royal Palermo 6). Royal tents seem to be much cheaper than, for example the tents manufactured by Cabanon and Sunncamp - are they just overpriced and paying for the name, or are you paying for much better quality with these other brands?

Quick responses please!

Thanks

Ryan

Hello

I have just been to 2 camping shops today to have a look at the tents on display (not to buy, just to look at them..... drives hubby mad!!)  and there is absolutely no comparison between the Cabanon tents and any others, although this is certainly reflected in the price.  I have seen pictures of the Cabanon range before, but there is nothing like seeing them for real.

However...... I am not hankering after one - they are extremely heavy (54kg) and not what we need for our weekends away!  In fact, we couldn't really think of a good reason to have one.

There were a few Royals and a few Sunncamp ones about - didn't see much difference between them really - possibly Sunncamp had the edge.

Just our opinion of course......... we have 2 Gelert tents, which we are really happy with, and our big tent is a WildCountry Homestead 10, which has served us well for several years.

Thanks for your reply. I was looknig last weekend at our nearest main tent dealer, they had Cabanons but the price is just extortionate! They looked very nice inside, what I could'nt understand that was when I looked on the internet today some of the Royal frame tents I've been browsing are over half the price of Cabanons and have the same, sometimes better specifications.

When you say "there is no comparison..." do you mean that you think the Cabanons are superior to the others in quality etc?

I certainly think the Cabanons are far superior in quality to anything else I have seen, hence the price tag!  I didn't realise just how nice they were until I had seen them "in the flesh".   The pictures on their website   Our products  don't do them justice IMHO.

I must admit that I didn't realise you had stated it was frame tents you were interested, so I can't actually compare other ones, as I don't go for frame tents, personally.

This would be our first frame tent. I have a synthetic tent which I use on Scout Camp, however we are often on Woodland sites where the sun cannot make the tent unbearably hot.

The thing that appeals to me about frame tents is the fact they are of cotton, are durable and do not become like an oven during the day!

Royal tents are fantastic quality and IMO they are slightly better than Sunncamp though there's not much in it. I'll agree with the posters above that Cabanon are the Rolls Royce of tents and that's reflected in their price!

I have just brought the royal avignon 6 and it is a fantastic tent.Had a look at the sunncamp and in my opinion the royal is a much better quality tent.Easy to put up and very roomy inside.

Thanks for your opinions, the general consensus seems to be that Royal tents are just as good, if not better than Sunncamp models. I can understand the price difference I suppose between Cabanons and Royals, however the price difference between Sunncamp and Royal is still quite big - with Royal being much cheaper. This is what cast initial doubts in my mind.
