.At 11.30 today i mentioned to my O.H that it was a lovely day just right for a spur of the moment trip and he agreed and booked somewhere!!.so when the car is packed we are off.I think ive got everything, i know ive got beer and wine! . We've only had a pratice with the tent and today our 4 year old will be helping so im hoping all will go smoothly.
So please you wonderful people send lots of positive thoughts our way,we will need them.
good luck ! we go for 1st time next weekend with 6 & 8 yr olds ! we keep looking though the message boards over last 12months, picking up lots of useful advice
hope you have a great time, , cant wait till our first trip either, first tent is all payed for now so just waiting on its delivery, just need to get the rest of the sleeping bags then i think we have enough to have a go, our lovely little ones (18,16,15,14,12,6) are all getting excited and they have been planning for tree weeks time , hope we manage it.
enjoy yourselves carole and family and let us all know how you get on x
well we survived, weather was gorgous, our son even got red cheeks. The only downsides he was so tired he wet his bed 3am on the 1st nite, bag, airbed ,layers ,everything. mummy ended up on floor!!.After that we enjoyed our day until i came down with some sort of tummy bug, but i didnt give in, (didnt want to spoil everyones fun) so we carried on and ended up packing up in the rain!!
still we learnt a lot and we wont give up yet! A couple of questions, how long can a damp tent stay packed away,i was thinking a couple of days. is that about right? and we were on a slope and the tent seemed to move about 4 inches but only the SIG so the tent was pulled out of shape. Was this exaggerated because we were on a slope, is there normally movement?
hi carole glad you had a nice time despite the downs.for tummy bugs and de hydration drink flat coke or lemonade as it put the sugar and salt\levels in your body back right .We came back on tuesday just gone and didnt manage to get our frame tent up to dry till the friday, and its ok.as long as you can dry it ,pitched or not you will be fine. its when they left a long time that does the damage.Thats the trouble with slopes something has to move. we were on a slope too and got the tent pitched ok but had to move from our nomal sleeping postions to the other way up. you will find thet your tent will be back straight when you pitch next time
