hiya me again, these are two examlpes off ebay, just wondering for some advice from all that know best, cos i dont have a clue what to look out for lol, is a tunnel tent better than the other one? pro's and cons? do they look strong enough for our v.large family? ok to get them up? good sellers? or anything i may have missed, sorry to be a pain, would welcome any replys and advice. thanx milla.
Hi Milla. I would be wary of the Viking tent as it's not a known make. The Montana may be three times the price, but at least you would be sure that it won't let you down, and it'll probably last you a good few years.
I haven't heard of anyone having problems with size of pitch for a tunnel tent, but some campers do have trouble booking a pitch large enough for a dome tent with satelite sleeping pods.
Have you considered buying a good quality second hand tent if the budget is tight?
Don't have one, but a lot of people on here rate the montana very highly.
Have also seen Outwell Hartfords (XL and XXL) on e-bay recently. If you're after a larger berth, go for the 2005 model as its bedrooms are larger than in the 2006 model. Have seen the 2005 XXL for £329 on e-bay, along with about £70 for the canopy if you want a large porch area.
Also, look at camping shops websites e.g. www.worldofcamping.co.uk and www.e-awnings.co.uk. Both sell recognised makes and have good special offers as well as good general prices.
If this is your first try at camping, may be better getting a cheap, but well known make, for first few outings in case camping doesn't suit you or your OH.
Also, think of what suits you best e.g. number of bedrooms and if head height, especially in the bedrooms may be an issue. If extra head height required, I believe the Sunncamp Vario and Mondial tents are very good in this area.
Set a budget, know your requirements, open a bottle of your chosen refreshment and have a skoot round the net. Then go out and see some in the flesh if possible before paying out your hard earned.
thanx JK and mature student for your input, i've just been looking at the outwell hartford and the rest of the range, think we'll have to save abit more first lol
thanx again for your relpys. milla x
oh and p.s. been reading in some others posts, and i'm sorry if the subject line wasn't correct, still new here and didn't know, sorry. i will remember in future. milla x
