HI all i have recentley purchased a diablo 600 and after reading some of the threads a bit worried about erecting the tent first time,i have read the instructions but they seem very breif, does anybody know if there is a video out there showing you step by step how to do this if not maybe i should drop vango a line and sugest it to them.
Don't worry!!!!! I have just put my tent up (not a diablo, though) and we have had NO experience at all...but it's up (with help from this forum I must admit!!!) and even though it's windy...it's still here!!!!!!
Unwrap it all, lay it out, stand back and just go step by step!!! Our instructions were next to useless!!!! but we got there without a fight!!!
I pitched my diablo 600 for the first time over easter weekend and although it is a little time consuming the first time around i certainly wouldnt say it was difficult.
The instructions are much clearer once you have the parts layed out in front of you. Just lay it all out in front of you and take it one step at a time, you will be fine.
Oh yeah, you really need a second person to stand inside the inner tent and support the poles while you locate them in the pin thingies.
I have a Diablo 900 and put my up with the help of my 75 year old mum and two teenage daughters, it takes a while but we have fun..................girl power or what !!!!
It was the first tent my wife and I ever pitched and despite it's size it was quite easy and to do and intuative.
I would say from our experience
1 when you thread the poles make sure there is an equal length sticking out at both ends. This makes it easier to form the correct dome shape.
2 If it's windy peg down the corners of the inner loosely as you thread the poles etc. It's a very big tent and makes an even bigger kite!
3 Somebody has to crawl into the main dome to lift the main poles. The taller they are the easier it is.
4 To get the flysheet over the inner just get two people to walk from the porch to the back of the tent pulling the flysheet over the top of the dome
5 The most important of all. Practice in a garden before going on holiday, preferably without the assitatance overly helpful toddlers. Nothing worse than starting a holiday with a row about how to put a tent up while a three year old tries to help by passing you a mallet.
As other people have already said practice make perfect. It is time consuming the 1st time but you get quicker the more familiar you get with all the components. Also you will find that other campers on site are very helpful if you need a hand . Never be too proud to accept help. We got help the 1st time we pitched on site and were extremely relieved , good way to make friends too.

Hey, if I'd a garden big enough to pitch a Diablo in, I wouldn't bother going away camping
Tent instructions are notoriously bad, perhaps because they are only ever needed once. After a couple of pitches, you'll be able to do it with your eyes closed. However for the first time make sure you're relaxed and have plenty of time (allow an hour and a half). Take it slow and steady and you'll have no problems.
Remember to release the straps holding the corner pins to their full extent to make it a little easier to get them in the pole ends.
And if you think pitching it is difficult, just wait 'till you try to get it back in the bag .
