We have just got back from our weekend away and it made me think about how good camping is for family life.

You have to work as a team to get the team to get the tent up in the first place. You need to be able to cope with been in a small space with who ever you go with. and thie is nothing like a cold night to get you cuddling up to each other !!!! 

it's also grounds for divorce for the exact same reasons you listed

the arguing when erecting the tent.... the falling over each other.....too much noise while cuddling lol

depends on whether it pours down all night with a gale force wind to back it all up,then having to break camp feeling totally knackered,washed out,soaking tent thats gonna need re-erecting to dry it all out,muddy groundsheets,and tempers to match that of a grizzly bear with toothache.

wouldn't swap it for anything else on the planet!

The thing I like most is the freedom it gives you.  There are no schedules to keep to, no set times for breakfast, lunch or dinner and it forces to to take the time to talk to one another which is something that most busy families rarely make time for when at home in my experience.

My favourite time of the day though is that moment when the kids have gone to bed and you are sitting in your tent with your last cuppa of the day, relaxing with the heater on and the doors all shut up.  The dog has made a beeline for the bed which he is now inside and there is nothing to do wxcept put your feet up and chill out.  Life just doesn't get any better

You are right. We like to sit outside with one of those citronella candles on the table (and pretend we aren't getting bitten) and just enjoy the ambiance....
