I've had my first tent experience over the bank holiday weekend, camping with an impulsive eBay purchase - paid £66 for something called an Alabama 6 berth tent. The best I can say is that it's probably worth the money and it stayed up and relatively dry inside but it won't do in the long term now I've got the bug!
I'm a total novice and am getting confused with the mindfield of tenting. I need one that meets the following criteria
Suitable for a family of 4 (including 2 teenagers who will want their own bedroom - so 3 bedrooms needed)
Easy to put up (and this may be asking the impossible - but something a 5' nothing female and two kids could manage erecting alone if we ever go off without the hubby)
Something that doesn't take up too much room in a saloon car bearing in mind all the other equipment we will have too
Good living space and a porch
Want to keep to a budget of £200 approx. Don't mind a quality factory second if anyone knows of any good websites.
Hope I'm not asking for the moon! ANY help would be much appreciated.
The Khyam 'Indiana 6' tent at £180 might suit you and your family. It has three 'bedroom' (though one is a bit small, so there might be arguments!)... It's over 22ft. long by 8ft. wide, so there's plenty of space for four.
Khyam tents are very well made and will stand up well, to our British weather!...
Have look on 'www.khyam.co.uk' and see if it's the sort tent you're looking for. There's also a 'video' which shows how to erect the tent, on the website...
If it isn't the tent for you, I'm sure someone else will come along with another recomendation... Good luck, in your search for a new tent... Andy...
There's a description of what constitutes a 'second' here so you need to know what you are getting. They are below a lot of second-hand prices. I'm tempted to get a Kyham fron them for quick 2 nighters but still have to convince OH.
