thing is that the Coleman is an inner first tent and the Cadiz a flysheet first tent. However the techie bumf for the awning says it`s adaptable to other family tents.
I can feel my fingers twitching towards the "BUY NOW!!" button. but before I do, has anyone got this awning and can give me any feedback on it please?
Thanks for the info, Mike. Did you see the Exponent version up too? It`s bigger and for the Columbias, isn`t it?
The free p&p is only for orders over £50, alas, and I only want the awning, not a tent as well. It`s still the cheapest I`ve seen it including p&p though. But my goodness there are some great tent bargains on the e-awning website, no?.
I asked the same question a few months ago, and the only responses that I got were 'look out for high winds' - I'll be interested to hear from anyone else who has one though.
Val, we have just bought something very similar to this to go with our JW tunnel tent, but not had a chance to use it. Looks very useful to me, lets hope it is beings as I've paid for it!
When this type of canopy was discussed on here before one or two people commented that it looked like a wind-hazard, but then a chap who said he designed kites (or something like that) said that was wrong and it wouldn't be. He did give techie aero-dynamicist-type reasons to back up his views but I didn't understand them so promptly forgot them. But I was convinced enough to buy ours. MT

Hi, I was just wandering if the awning was worth the money? I have a Canyon and have been away once so far this year, and fancy the awning for the better weather coming in. I have saw it pitched at Outriggers, and it looked impressive, but thought I would get some info before buying. Cheers!!

I`ve been looking for this thread, but can`t find it, MT. Not coming up through any combination of "Coleman Classic Awning" in search. Was it under a different start topic?
Val, I think it was in a jokey thread someone started about a Pegasus-type tent for sale on Ebay but I can't remember the thread title.
I have also been wondering in what way the Coleman Awning is different to the Outwell Side Canopy which people have been using with no problem - they are both poled at the front, chuck them over the top and peg down at the back designs. MT

Just so happens Hubby and I were at the local camping emporium yesterday and looking at the Outwell canopies. Belive me, the Outwell Side Canopy is a totally different kettle of fish....butch, lots of guyines, TWO sturdy alloy poles, HH of 5000. It`s pulled down into a securely anchored hoop as well, while the Coleman is a big and slightly curved sail held down by one weedy fibreglass pole. Also the Coleman is really lightweight (HH of 300...yes, 300, not 3000) and the number of guylines is inadequate for a piece of canvas nearly 5m x 5m, IMHO.
I think you get what you pay for, really. I admit, I was hoping the Coleman would be a better item than the blurb sugggested. I can`t really complain because it did exactly what it says on the tin, can I? But I want to stress its limitations to anyone else that`s thinking about buying it.
