Is it just me,and it usually is ,but why dont tent makers stop saying for example that what they are selling is a 5 man tent .When you know that it will only fit 2 people comfortable, reading peoples feedback on this site, most of us like the bigger tent,so unless you are going backpacking or climbing everest, be sensible, unless your in the artic and dont need the body heat, why on earth would you sleep 4 adults in one pod,Iknow one of you will have the answer, but after 3 glasses of wine i have forgot what the question was please give me a clue
As Baldrick would say - its a cunning plan to sell more tents.
Someone new to camping buys a 4 man tent for his family to go camping - after the 1st trip with everyone on top of each other he has to go back and buy another bigger tent - 2 sales instead of one
correct 3 man tents are for 2 , 8 man are for 6 yes spot on unless we are all 2ft 3" i always check measurement then measure them out with tape measure then we have a look what a laugh, always see a tent errected before buying give you a feel for the tent. Good Luck
I'm trying to choose a new tent at the moment (lots of tearing of hair!) and I've resorted to scale drawings on graph paper. Its really helped to see them like that, there is no consistency between the manufacturers at all, and the difference in the footprints is massive as well. I have little cut outs of our beds and bags as well - yes I know its very sad....
Not at all Alison. That's how I work out the furniture for rooms in the house - it saves lugging heavy furniture from one side of the room to the other if I work it all out with 'furniture cut-outs' on graph paper So it should save you the expense of buying a tent which is too small for your equipment & your needs
Hi Jean, It started with furniture; we recently decorated and refurnished one of the kids rooms, and I spent ages shuffling little cut outs around until I was happy. I did think it was just me though, glad to know I'm not alone!
