First things first thanks for all your help over past few days we are very grateful for all the advice.  We found the perfect tent yesterday its a vango Aspen 700 and it looks perfect so roll on the weekend so i can go collect it!Its only a secondhandone but i thought it was good enough for a first time to see how we go on lol.  So now the question is what do i need for a virgin camping trip is there anything strange i should be taking?

Happy Camping! We're new to camping as well and ours arrives today. We've just booked a few days in Herefordshire. We just got the essentials for now and will start getting other bits as we go along. Just bought a bed for me and hubby, a bed for our little boy, a stove, table and chairs and a kettle (very important!) - we've got alot of stuff round the house that we can take along. I went to the Pound shop yesterday and bought a few extras.

Hope you have a great time!

Diane

That is how we are doing it! We have bought the tent - should arrive tomorrow. Its just the essentials next, so will just "make do" until we know exactly what we want/need for our future trips.

We have to wait until July for our first trip though, even if we do have a trial run in the garden first!

Linz and Dave,

We are off on our first trip in July too! Found a lovely place in the Wye Valley on this site. Can't wait. We were going to go somewhere next week but I think I need a good practice in getting the thing up first otherwise gawd knows what would happen with me and the OH with our chatterbox 4yr old barking orders at us!! I can just picture us, arrive early and by sunset still trying to get the thing pitched!!! Steve, my OH, has a thing about not needing instructions - apparently he has an in-built 6th sense of how everything should be put together...it usually results with me looking like I have steam pouring out of my ears, looking like I need a stiff drink!!

I'm waiting for the delivery man....I am so sad....but you are right Sue and John, I feel like a kid in a sweet shop...it's like Christmas!!
