First Posting! New to family camping!!

We have been camping twice now in our Avignon 5...still know that we haven't been putting it up correctly.....lots of groundsheet at the back spare, back of tent when pegged look snothing like it should?, front of fly sheet doesn't peg down well, find it difficult to get a good tunnel shape from the four arcs (all other postings say it is easy to erect!!)........help anyone please.

Any tips at all?

Instructions that come with the tent are basic!

Thanks

Have you tried pegging out the four corners first? The rest of the hoops should just line up. Having said that I can still get my tent into all sorts of weird shapes especially if the ground is uneven.

Hope you enjoy your camping.

Lisa, am I right in thinking that your tent has a groundsheet which fits under the full footprint of your tent ie the entire area that is covered by your tent and not just the living area?

If so, is it possible to lay out (and peg down?) the groundsheet first and then erect the tent above it, so that shape of the groundsheet will show you where to position your tent and help you keep it in a straight line? MT

thats what OH said he's gonna do next time.....

Do you think it will work with three goundsheets?

We have three - one for living area and two for under bed pods.

Hi lisa, we have the avignon 6, did you put the ground sheet in the right way round. the first time we pitched ours i had put it in back to front and we ended up with spare groundsheet at the back. We haven't had trouble with the shape of ours when pitched but have to say that when we went away this time we were on a bit of a wonky pitch and the inner tents looked a bit lopsided which we haven't had before.

The front panel seemed quite high the first couple of time we pitched but was much better this time. Either because of the pitch or it might be stretching a bit?

Thanks to you all...........will try pegging all four corners first and maybe trying the groundsheet first (love that idea but have an elasticated front webbing strip that would then be on top?)

The groundsheet being the wrong way round sounds like a stong contender for "where we went horribly wrong".......Jacqfrost do you mean we have the front at the back and visa versa (not the back at the side and the front at the other side) in which case ..how can you tell the back from the front before we pitch?

any more general pitching tipes graetfully received

Lisa

i had put the back at the front when i put it in. The x cuts in the groundsheet on ours line up with our second pole from the back.(this is where our side door is on one side and last window is on otherside) we then have to really stretch the inner tents forward to peg them down through it. I am assuming yours is the same but a bit narrower.

I have to lay it down when we have pitched and see if the x's are in the right place. i keep meaning to mark it front and back but don't ever get round to it.

perhaps it is a faulty groundsheet we have the avignon 5 and dont have any problems which is surprising the way we put up tents
