I am a little concerned at the moment about the dealings I have had with this company. I ordered 2 things from them on Sunday 4th June and according to their website expected delivery on Tuesday or possibly Wednesday. My credit card was debited on the Sunday - but as yet no items and no respoinse to my e-mail enquiry as to where they are!!. If they are out of stock then I think I should have been told, so that I could have placed my order elsewhere and also I really don't like them taking the money before the goods are dispatched. Any suggestions as to what I should do now!!
I bought a little pup tent from them last year for less than 20 quid including delivery - It highly exceeded my expectations of what I would get considering I had never heard of the brand and the very low price - It turned out to be a good quality tent.
I'd wait for delivery - I bet ya cant beat their prices
I've not had any probs either - I think it's more likely that they are just very busy - all this glorious weather has brought the campers out in force!!

Have always found them excellent and have bought almost all our gear from them. I would give them a ring as when they sent us the wrong product by mistake they couldn't have been more helpful on the phone and organised a doorstep exchange.

This is Thursday and you ordered on Sunday? Bit soon to be complaining, don`t you think?
No not really - not when we needed the item for this weekend and I ordered from them specifically because they promised quick delivery (I could have got them cheaper elsewhere). Actually the main aspect I don't like is that they have taken the payment before they have dispatched the item when according to their website they never do that!!
Maybe they have despatched them, and they have got lost in transit.
If you ring them they will (depending upon the carrier they use) be able to get what they call a POD (proof of delivery) if someone has signed for them, they will be told, if the parcel is sat in a depot somewhere, they will also be abe to tell.
I have e-mailed them and hubbie has left a message on their answering machine about our problem, so I suppose I'll have to wait and see what happens now - but it looks as if we're going to have to go away this weekend without what we ordered. .Still on the plus side the weather's going to be brilliant As nobody else seems to have problems with them lets hope it's just a blip and will get quickly resolved, I was just a little cross yesterday because I hadn't got my items and they hadn't answered my e-mail either!
We had two similar experiences to you; we first ordered from outdoormegastore on 4th May; an order which amounted to £364.91. The website claimed next-day delivery so, when we had heard nothing by 8th, we rang and were told that most of the order was out of stock (but our account had been debited). Because we could not wait, we cancelled the order. When the money had not been credited to our account by 10th May, we emailed to ask why not and were told it would be done that day. It actually was credited on 12th May, so they held funds for 8 days on items which were not in stock.
Reading threads on here, we decided it must have been a blip in their system and so decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and submitted a (different) order on 11th May, totalling £427.54. Prior to making the website order we telephoned to confirm that items were in stock yet, despite being told that they were, we received an email the day after placing the order (and again having our account debited in full) which stated that many of the items - totalling £190.94 - were in fact out of stock. We rang to cancel the out of stock goods and confirmed via email. When, by 22 May - 10 days after cancellation, our account had still not been credited with the amount of cancelled (out of stock) items, we emailed, and the monies were then refunded.
It seems to me that this is a very large company with a huge turnover and, when there is a problem with stock availability you have to be prepared to wait, either for the items themselves or for your money back.
I personally find it unacceptable that their website wrongly shows items as in stock and makes an immediate debit, yet takes an age to refund if you are not willing (or able) to wait for them to re-stock. It is true to say that they do eventually reimburse for items they cannot immediately supply, but because of the time-scales I will not be ordering from them again. I would rather pay more and have better service.
Thank you Liddenham, I was beginning to think it was only me that has had problems with them. I'm going to give them to the end of today and if I haven't heard from them - I'm going to cancel my order and shop elsewhere!! But we've still got to go away without the items I ordered!!
I also had a problem when I ordered a Khyam tent tidy....emailed to ask if it was in stock and was told yes....ordered on website then received an email a few days later telling me it was out of stock...finally arrived after 3.5 weeks!...I was luckily not in a major rush but I'd deffo think twice about using them again.
Hi, I sent them an enquiry last week and they took 6 days to reply, during that time I found another stockist that displays stock quantities and usually delivers next day. Also cheaper P/P. Click on item required and scroll to bottom of page where it gives "usefull information". This is part of a post I put on last week on "Equipment"
I have just made my first online purchase of camping equipment. After reading various posts about credit cards being charged even though the item is out of stock, this site gives item detail and quantities actually in stock and approx delivery times. I ordered a Kyam windbreak at £20 (£19.99 elseware but whats 1p) + delivery, only £2.95 (£4.95 elseware) and it was delivered the next day. This site is http://www.outdoorgear.co.uk/ but you all probably have found it before.
Finally managed to contact Outdoor Megastore (I had to ring them in the end!) Only to be told that the items we needed are out of stock - nobody had bothered to inform me about this which goes against there company policy according to their website and I quote:
If any goods you order are out of stock, we will inform you by e-mail promptly and Stan will give you an estimate as to when he will have them available for you.
The next delivery date they had was next thursday which is no use as we are going away tommorrow so I have cancelled the order and we're going to have to make a stop off at our nearest camping shop on the way. They have assured me that I will receive a refund but it will take 5-7 working days to reach my account, so they will have had my money for over a week for no good reason. I certainly won't be using them again!!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
