We are a bit confused by the size specs on the outwell website because it seems to give the impression to us the tent comes seperate to the poles rather than in 1 bag.
Not only that but the poles look like they weigh more than the tent, so could someone first assure us that the poles are not in a case the size of the tent (40 x 80)as I cannot see that can be possible.
We are thinking about selling our hartford xl and getting one of these instead because we like the idea of pitching the outer first.

how strange is that, we too had a hartford xl and then changed to a montana 6 last year. Now we have a folding camper this year. Last years model of the montana 6 came in one bag but the poles were in a seperate bag inside and we kept them seperate from the first day of opening. The pole bag was a bit shorter than the tent itself and did not take up anywhere near as much space as the tent bag. The poles are very sturdy but therefore very heavy. Having said that it was the best tent we had. Fantastic space and pitching in one is much faster. Would highly recommend it.
I can't speak for the Monty (I'm sure someone will soon be along to) but we currently have a nebraska and the tent and poles are seperate. It's quite likely they are seperate too for the Monty as they both have steel poles rather than fibreglass so take up more room and weigh more.
The poles are in a separate shoulder bag (the tent is in a wheelie bag) and I think they are heavier - it's hard to say because you don't often carry the tent you just wheel it. However, the pole bag is considerably smaller than the tent bag - at least half the size. Hope this helps.
PS We've just had our first trip in our Montana 6 and it is fabulous. It has loads of fans on here!
...and there is a small bag for the pegs and a door mat. The door mat will fit in the wheelie bag, the pegs should squeeze into either the shoulder bag or the wheelie bag.

Now all we have to do is sell our Hartford XL at a bargain price if anyone wants it.

The poles may fit in one bag if you are really careful with packing - but this will make it very heavy. Best to keep poles in the seperate bag - makes packing the car easier too.
We were new to camping last year and fortunately purchased a Montana 6 (2005 model) We love it. It had a good 4 week run through the West Country last summer and weekends here and there. This year we're off to France in it. We rate it so highly 2 of our friends have bought one for their family camping trips. It's spacious with room to grow. Full of good ideas and well made.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
