Seen airbeds in local morrisson's for £10.00, thinking of trying one, as ours in need of replacing. has anybody tried one? if so what are they like?
I've got one but not yet tried it.... however, someone on here did post they had one and two of their kids had spent the day bouncing on it and it stood up to it ok.. now thats what I call testing it out LOL
Also I have the tesco sleeping bags two for £12. I can't bear to be in a single so brought two to zip together. I also have to have a blanket on top for the weight more than anything else, feel weird without something on top of me. I was warm enough in May. How it would stand up to winter weather I have no idea, but we're not going in the winter, so fingers crossed it'll be ok

Well I wouldn't recommend you buy a Tesco tent for mountain use, but you can't really go wrong with a plastic egg carrier can you?
Yes you can go wrong with the black plastic egg carrier, it will only take small or medium eggs. Don't try putting large in there. Crack-crack instant scamble.

These were the two I bought the other week and then ended up taking back coz they just didn't feel as if they were gonna be warm enough for the chilly Cornish nights by the sea, (I mean right by the sea), for anybody using them in the awning annexe.
Have you worked out what those elastic loops are for yet btw? Coz they're positioned a bit oddly, with them not being evenly spaced or anything? I certainly couldn't fathom it out and neither could anybody else on here.
i think you get what you pay for, comes to mind , personally, i am not sure i would take the chance with the cheeper stuff. i am no snob ,but i would not ,enjoy a cold wet night, on a damp flat airbed,in a damp leeky tent, with the kids crying cos there cold and wet..
the british summer can be a let down ,so i dont want my camping gear to let me down. if i have to shell out exra money, to be warm cozy and dry. i think i will take that option.
Andy - I think you're dead right (and that's why I said at the beginning of this post that I would stick with Vango, Gelert, etc for a tent and other important purchases - names you can trust - especially when you've got kids in the tent).
Equally, I think their sleeping bags are only good for in carvans or sleepovers at the house, but that's nothing to do with them being Tesco's - it's to do with their weight - they're just not rated low enough for my liking.
Things is though, for all the little gadgets and gizmos they are very well priced and stuff like this doesn't matter if it lets you down.
I bought some saucepan / frying pan / plate and cup sets from Tesco last year - used them on my Coleman duel-fuel (as tough a test as you can get) and they were fine. I got them all for less than £6 - I note that this year they're selling all the pieces separately for that price! They were stamped with the same name on the lids as are being sold in Millets for 3 times the price - so bargains to be had if you're careful.
No idea what the toggles are for either.. maybe to hold it together to get it into the stuff sack?????
I was worried they would be too thin esp as my kids ones that i normally use are much warmer, but iwas ok. No colder than when I am in the kids ones, but even in them I need a blanket over the top for the weight rather than the warmth!!!! Daft I know LOL
If you're still looking for the egg carriers, they have them in the Barkingside branch of Tesco if this is near enough for you....
Saw these in the Purley Tescos the other morning, and they really did look as if they would only take some very peculiarly shaped eggs!
I must admit, I am very puzzled over this egg carrier thing. Are not the thick cardboard containers that eggs already come in strong enough? That's all we use and have never had a casualty ... and we can throw it away when finished to save space on the return journey! They come in 12's, 6's, 10's and even 15's. Even if your regular egg supply comes in the more flimsy polystyrene, or card base with thin plastic top, you just need to change brand if you need a thicker box when you'r egoing camping - or save one to replenish from another container.
Well I was hunting for a replacement for my old plastic egg box, veteran of many years of camping, but sad to say Tescos didn`t have them in when I went looking. A very kind fellow forum member sent me one instead. (Ta again, Kath!)
I admit, I`ve only broken a couple of eggs while using the disposable boxes. But I like my egg box....it`s one of the things that mean camping to me, like the smell of canvas tents! Also I don`t always buy eggs from the shops...I have a friend with chickens and I get a lot from her, so need a box to take them camping. Belive me, domestic pet chickens lay all sorts of weird eggs and there`s no problem in finding six to fit the egg carrier.
ive had the adsa air beds over two years now they are good quality and bigger than most ive seen, actually the singles are the same size as a single materess
ive also got the small folding chairs form asda
as for "cheap" tents we bought a tent from argos and so far its very good

so bargins can be worth while
"sob" i never got to wear my expensive sunscreen shirt from millets cos the sun never shone and we needed ten layers lol ............but the sun will shine some time
Hi has any one purchased a Quechua tent at all from the go camping store or from decathlon.
I know the HH is only 1500 on the 4 berth one I purchased today for £59.
I just wodered if anyone else had bought one or one of the 2 second pop up tents of the same make?
ive just gone and bought the double airbed and 4 singles from tesco, also the adult folding camping chairs , the plan is to get the tent up with beds blown up in the garden sleep on them a few times before we go off on our camping holiday to cornwall in august, will let you all know how the testing goes
Got a water carrier from Netto for £1.99 and I reckon its the same as the Tesco one, takes an age for a dribble to come out, needs to be on a box (or the boot of my estate) to allow the spout to be accessible.
May see if I can speed the flow without making it leak but otherwise it'll go in the bin, and I'll go back to a 2l bottle. Kettle filling and a bit of cooking we don't need much each day.
I know that everone likes nice fresh eggs now but what about just sterilising a glass or plastic jar and cracking the eggs into this at home - seal the jar with room temp margarine or butter and ( as long as the eggs are fresh to begin with) they will keep for at least three to four days and will still pour out one at a time ---- OK maybe the whites will be different sizes but you can argue over that at the table.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
