I've been to M&S abd picked up 4 coolbags for 99p each - thanks for the tip Val. I liked the look of their little 2 in 1 lunchbags but they are still 4 quid each. Hopefully they'll reduce these nex, they had loads of them!
When we go for two weeks in the frame tent I use one of those plastic drawer sets (without the castors on it) for all the kitchen and knickknack stuff everything including teatowels. The washing up kit is in a sandwich box with holes melted into the top to stop the brush and scourer from going smelly. Our clothes are hung in the spare bedroom on a cheap clothes hanging rail which are about £6 from Argos and Pound stretcher they come apart but don't have to stand them too high otherwise they fall over!
For weekend away I have an old coolie box which all the plates, cups, kettle etc are stuffed in to fit and I mean its a tight fit its like a puzzle! then I have a wilkos bag for life for the wshing up bowl, lights, extra gas. Clothes are in separate little ruck sacks from the pound shop, each has a photo of the person who's clothes are inside and as they are small you don't tend to take too many clothes you never wear! Bedding is in a big holdall thats the size our our tent.
However anyone any ideas on a shelving unit that is collapsable as I only need it while living in the tent to keep stuff off the table and floor!
I take those "tuff" boxes you get from DIY stores. Ive got different coloured ones, so I know whats in what box. Kitchen burners etc, plates cutlery, bedding etc They keep things quite tidy. A hard cool box for food that needs to stay cool and a soft one for the rest.
However, we go camping in a two bedroomed tent and use the second bedroom as the storage room - keeps everything out of the way !
we used stackable plastic storage boxes( big ones) , one each for kids clothes, and several for kitchen items/food/games etc. the food ones lived outside( we windbreak the kitchen area outside the porch , 2 boxes stacked in porch with odds and sods in , and the clothes ones inbetween the airbeds in the pods. washing went in one binbag, then back in one of the empty boxes for the trip home.
next time we will have a spare pod, after upgrading to the monty12, so hope to store everything in there , and the kitchen stuff in the daytent.
we have a 7 seater and a double trailer tho, so the boxes fit ok, not sure you would get away with them in a car
I took fold-up shelving from Poundstretchers with us to the Canvas ready-setup frame tent and it was excellent - I just hung them from the frame using loops of double-sided velcro to make a 'rail'.
In our new tent there is no frame, but I have one of the rail thingys mentioned by RogLozLee and you can hand three of them from one of those.
I've got one of these ('shop tidy' originally for the boot of the car) and found it ideal for storing food/nic nacs/kids toys etc. We've got a Monty 6 and it fits perfectly along the side (and keeps the groundsheet down when the wind picks up)
