Can anyone recommend a smallish tent with a SIG? Looking at Coleman Weathermaster, Montana 4, Wynnster Hawk 4, etc, but they are all a bit big as it may only be me using it much of the time. I would like something slighty smaller albeit one with reasonable space to sit in. All suggestions welcomed or should I just buy one of the others and hope it doesn't look too big for 1 person!
Hi Nick, welcome to the site, have you looked at the Khyam yale? I don't know if it's any smaller than the others , but those who have it reckon its a great tent and goes up in 15mins. If you put khyam yale in the yellow search button at the top of the page there are loads of previous discussions about it.
There are some photos of the Yale in my blog space. The address is in my gallery images. There are plenty of interior shots so you will get an idea of the size.
The Weathermaster won't be too big Nick, I use ours for just me and my 5 year old daughter, leaving out one bedroom, plenty of sprawling space in the living area then, but its still easy to put up on your own. Can you still get them? Wasn't sure if they were making them any more. If you do get one make sure its the Weathermaster Plus, lots of improvements on previous models.
Just bought Gelert Monsoon 4 from halfords £89 inc two free sleeping bags if bought online its a ideal tent for one or two not two big but lots of room and two bedroom pods which can be removed if not required.Tent has good reviews on this site.
Of course I totally agree with Elaine about the Weathermaster Plus, but a really interesting tent (and much lighter) is the SunnCamp Evolution 400. This is stated as a 4 person (for that, read 3 person) semi geodesic design, which should be pretty good in high winds. Importantly it has a "stand up in" bedroom, a good size living space with windows, and with a SIG.(Oh, and it's only 12Kg with an HH of 3000).
We've got the Sunncamp Evolution 400. It takes 10 mintues to pitch and as Rob says, you can stand up in it in both the living and bedroom areas.
We did have intial problems with the tent re: water coming in through the zips, but after emailing Sunncamp we have hopefully resolved the issue and we are very happy with this tent as it meets all our requirements.
HI Nick Just purchased the OUTWELL JERSEY 2 man pop up tent from don valley, reduced to £37.( using it as a temp spare bedroom with the van), erected in a second, packed away in about 10 sec,(once youve got the hang of it).very well made
3000HH on outer, & 5000HH on sig. ok, not high enough to stand up in, but plenty of room to sit.
Nick. (yep, another Nick,Nick,Nick, who let Jim Davidson in?).
I've got the Coleman Bi-Space 300. I fancied a tent I could stand up in (and I can -- Just), but with a smaller sleeping area. The sleeping area has a sig, but the living area has a separate groundsheet.
The other thing, as there is only you, is just get a 4-5 person dome tent where there is just the main inner (with SIG) and just a small porch - something like an EasyCamp Torino 500 (cheap too).

So what was the solution?
Would this solution also work for the Evoulation 600? (the "spaceship tent")

Big Bunny, they gave us advice on how and where to apply some seam sealant (basically on the inside of the tent, around the zip area). If this doesn't work they will replace / refund for us.
I really liked the look of the Evolution 400, but OH wanted something with a little more room as we don't travel light! It would definitely be one i'd consider. Good luck.
