I live/work in this area-ish and I haven't yet found a really decent store which could match the biggies. However, if you don't mind travelling there's a camping exhibition in Wokingham (started today and on for a month I think) check out www.campingcentreexhibitions.co.uk. Failing that there's a good camping store heading towards Gatwick.

I went to the exhibition last year and they had a whole field of tents and a barn full of goodies also! I got my Coleman Alaska for a bargain £30!

There are a few little shops around that do the usual stuff but I tend to go online these days or make a day out of visiting an exhibition.

After anything particular?

Ironic that, because I was hoping to go along to the Wokingham exhibition today. However, my car developed a problem on the M4 just past Heathrow, so decided to turn around for home.

Basically I am new to this sort thing recent posting and just wanted to have a look around at tents and things.
Thinking about a 2-man dome tent, but not entirely sure.

What a coincidence! Anyhow, it certainly would be worth a visit to the exhibition. They often sell their tents for less if you collect the display model at the end of the exhibition. I decided to do this for the Alaska but when I tried to clean it out I realised it was a losing battle. It seemed that every insect know to man had used the tent, died in the tent and been squashed in the tent! I decided to just get the brand new one after all.

I can recommend the Alaska actually. I like the ventilation system of the Coleman tents(heat rises as we all know and the vent is in the roof). Only down side is that the porch area is a little small but we use it for quick camp trips of 1/2 nights and love it.

Hi, maybe you could try Home Counties Camping Centre, Nutty Lane, Shepperton.  Tent display and all the usual accessories.

Hiya sorry to hear about your car problems (i know how that feels having an old car myself). There is a great store in Surrey Quays called Decathlon, they sell all sorts of camping and outdoor gear and at reasonable prices. It is quite a way away from where you would like, but, it's well worth a visit.
