It is a groundsheet which at certain edges turns up, and is fixed to the fly sheet - not fixed all the way round, as with a zip, just toggled at a few places.

IMHO not that mich diference from a std groundsheet, it is still flat at the entrance so bits and bugs get in. Still a nice tent though.

We've just used our vv500 with riser groundsheet for the first time this weekend. It was great, kept out draughts and made us lovely and cosy. The only problem we had was that on saturday night it was very, very, very windy and the wind had pulled open the zips on front door and rain had got in (found a little puddle when packing away).

The real plus side was the venture survived such a stormy night although i didn't get much sleep all night - wind was so, so loud and tent kept bending and swaying but each time it went back and stood up really well.
